Volunteering at EHAAT – Joanne McIntyre
“I became involved in volunteering for EHAAT as my daughter was saved by the charity in 2014. Tara was airlifted to Addenbrookes in a life-threatening condition, and without EHAAT we wouldn’t have Tara today. She suffered a traumatic brain injury and has limited mobility. Two years after the accident Tara raised £4,479 in sponsored events (paying for her own and someone else’s HEMS rescue).
Tara helps with bucket collections, but her favourite role is volunteering in the newly opened Braintree shop. She gets to meet people and chat – she is a bit of a local celebrity, so a lot of people know her! I also volunteer at the shop, it’s nice for me to see different people, the customers and other volunteers. Volunteering gives me something to do for myself and helps a great charity at the same time. Tara’s Dad is looking forward to walking The Northern Camino, the challenge takes in 590 miles across Northern Spain in April 2021!”
