Volunteering at EHAAT –  Bob Wright

At 85 Bob is just about our longest serving volunteer as he first started fundraising for an air ambulance in Hertfordshire 24 years ago, way before Herts Air Ambulance was established in 2007. Bob told Jane Morton, Volunteer Manager, that he has enjoyed helping the Charity in various ways over the years, reminiscing back to 2005 when a lady called Jean Twin was appointed as the Community Fundraising Coordinator. Bob has represented EHAAT at so many events with highlights being giving a talk to 200 police officers in Stevenage and a group of 300 connected to the Salvation Army. A great event was when Sawbridgeworth Mayor, Roger Beeching, held a music event in his garden, 280 people attended raising £2100 for the Charity. Through his time as a volunteer Bob has always had a collection tin at his local bowling club and come up with various reasons why club members have had to donate. Bob collects pin badges and has a vast personal collection. Through his hobby Bob has sold 2,555 £1 helicopter pin badges for the Charity and he shows no signs of stopping yet! Nowadays Bob continues to help by looking after the Charity’s collection tins in his hometown of Sawbridgeworth and has been involved in our new venture to test the water with QR codes and tap to donate technology. Bob has certainly seen many changes over the years and has been delighted to watch the Charity grow from strength to strength, and to be part of that journey.
