Air Ambulance Week 2020
Even though Air Ambulance Week 2020 has come to an end, there is still time to support us and donate through our virtual bucket below. Please give what you can.
Roundup – Air Ambulance Week 2020 – “Like no Other!”
This year’s Air Ambulance Week was like no other and we would like to thank the amazing people of Essex and Hertfordshire for their generosity during the week, which ran from September 7th to 13th across the UK. The theme this year was ‘Because every second counts’.
In particular we would like to thank two very special children, after a successful week of fundraising on behalf of us.
During the week we shared a video featuring the family of Charlotte Smith (3) from Hitchin (link) who was moments away from choking to death last year after eating lunch at nursery. Dr Asher Lewinsohn and Critical Care Paramedic Jake Humphrey from EHAAT were able to clear her airway and get her breathing.
Tom Goulding (6) from Colchester, who was attended by an EHAAT crew two years ago after he suffered a badly broken leg, ran a mile each day of Air Ambulance Week in aid of the charity and raised an incredible £576.
Usually Air Ambulance Week sees staff and volunteers from ourselves out making bucket collections across Essex and Hertfordshire, but over 90% were cancelled due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and social distancing restrictions.
During the week EHAAT also gave press and radio interviews to media outlets in both counties, featured in online coverage of Essex County Cricket match, and shared a series of short videos on the theme `Because every second counts’ on our social media channels.
Thank you again to everyone who support us during the week and we are already looking forward to and planning for Air Ambulance Week due to be held in September 2021.
