Pasha Kovalev, Celebrity Judge

Russian-born Pasha began dancing at the age of eight, and has taken part in both ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ on American TV and the BBC’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’. During eight years as a competitor in the latter, Pasha won series twelve with Caroline Flack and was runner up three times.

We are delighted that Pasha will be a celebrity judge for Strictly Air Ambulance, along with dance partner Chloe. Together they will be performing demonstration dances on the night.

Chloe Hewitt, Celebrity Judge

Chloe Hewitt started dancing at the age of 7. She became a World, European and a 3x National Ballroom and Latin Champion, all by the age of 20.

In 2013, she was scouted to audition for Britain’s Got Talent whereby she reached the Live Semi-Finals. And in 2016 Chloe become a professional dancer on hit TV show Strictly Come Dancing. Along with performing on Strictly, Chloe was given the opportunity to experience presenting with Strictly’s ‘It Takes Two’.

Our dance contestants

We are delighted to introduce our five amateur dance contestants who are being partnered by local professional dance teachers. Find out more about them!

Contestant: Rob Jelly
Partner: Trisha Bray

What’s your background?
I’ve spent four years presenting `The Early Wobble on BBC Essex, seven years playing American Football for Essex Spartans, six years hosting the Nuclear Races Obstacle Course Race and 33 years dancing – untrained, until now!

Why did you want to get involved in Strictly?
I have always been a performer and would live to challenge myself with something I have no experience of. It’s because of my job that I have ended up dancing with the lovely Trisha. Back at the start of 2019 I was talking to the team from EHAAT about Strictly Air Ambulance and said ‘that would be great fun’. And here I am. Trisha and I are going to be doing a tango, which I’m very excited about because it’s not something I’d ever thought I would do. Originally, my dance partner was Joanne Taylor, unfortunately, she has had to pull out of this year’s event due to injury. Thankfully Joanne has given me a fantastic headstart, it’s going to be good fun.

Contestant: Louise White
Partner: James Fenton

What’s your background?
I am a physiotherapist and hypnotherapist and I am married to a serving soldier. We have two daughters. I was born in Scotland but I have lived in Colchester for 14 years although I have moved around and spent time working overseas. I have had 27 different addresses! As a family we love to travel and enjoy a wide range of outdoor activities and I believe you should embrace new opportunities and try everything once. My husband and I have recently been involved with making a TV documentary about planning for your retirement.

Why are you taking part in Strictly Air Ambulance?
It is such a great cause. As a physiotherapist, I have treated clients who have been saved by the air ambulance I can think of nothing more reassuring in a time of need than hearing the whirl of the propeller blades approaching.
I am about to turn 50, so I have chosen to do this as a personal challenge to mark this milestone birthday. I have been to and thoroughly enjoyed the shows previously.

Contestant: Rob Keen
Dance Partner: Zoe Jeffery

What’s your background?
I’m a production supervisor at a greeting card company based in Watford. I am always up for a laugh and like socialising with family and friends. In my spare time I like music and movies. In the last year I have started taking part in Nuclear Races, which are 12km mud-filled obstacle courses. I live in Harlow with my partner Jamie, who suggested I enter Strictly Air Ambulance.

Why did you want to get involved in Strictly?
I volunteered for Strictly Air Ambulance because I am a volunteer for the charity. I make greeting cards for a company in Watford and I can’t think of a better way of raising money and having fun at the same time. I’m lucky enough to have been partnered with Zoe, a previous winner and I’m hoping to smash it!

Contestant: Rob Theobald
Partner: Michelle Pavlovic

What’s your background:
I live in Rayleigh with my wife Jo and our children Mia and Madison. I work for St James’s Place, a wealth management business. I am being sponsored by my wife’s business, a company called Public Sewer Services.

Why are you taking part?
Last year I was dragged off the sofa by my wife to go to Strictly Air Ambulance. I then had this mad moment when I started bidding for the chance to take part. I’m fifty next year and I thought it would be a good milestone to achieve. I have zero experience in dancing, so I am relying on Michelle to guide me.

Contestant: Stacy Grantham
Partner: Sam Jeffery

What’s your background?
I work at David Lloyd Colchester. You’ll find me mainly behind the reception desk, however, I get involved in many things in club!

Why are you taking part?
EHAAT got in touch with the club to see if anyone wanted to take part. I used to dance Ballroom and Latin when I was younger but I stopped when I was around 10 or 11 I always felt I gave up too soon! Now I’m an adult with 2 children, this is a great opportunity for me to revisit my youth and dance again! It’s for a great cause too so it’s win-win! I am so excited to see if I’ve still got a wiggle in me! I feel proud to be able to do this event for Essex and Herts Air Ambulance to keep them doing the amazing job that they do each and every day!

Contestant: Dawne Watts
Partner: Ronnie Bradford

What’s your background?
I am a 46-year-old hairdresser who has taken a liking to challenges. In the last 3 years, despite my profound fear of heights, I have climbed Snowdon three times and done a tandem skydive with the Red Devils. I decided to raise money for charity to ensure I would go through with falling out of an aeroplane attached to a Red Devil.

Why are you taking part?
I have watched for a few years in awe and have always said it is something I would love to do. Being able to dance and raise money for a very worthwhile charity is amazing. I love dancing and what I lack in rhythm I will make up for in enthusiasm.
