Head of Philanthropy

We wish to engage with a senior fundraising professional to lead the creation of a benefactors’ programme with an initial goal to raise from philanthropic sources, a seven figure sum to support the purchase of a second air ambulance helicopter.

This new position is distinct from the charity’s ongoing income generation activities, created to provide the dedicated resource to engage, cultivate and secure support from major givers across Essex and Hertfordshire.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of working with influential major givers and the professional skills to build strong, long lasting relationships with busy community leaders. In addition, they will have the ability to inspire and motivate key individuals to support the charity.  They will be driven by achieving challenging targets that will deliver long term philanthropic benefits.

We are offering not just an attractive remuneration package, but an opportunity to work closely with our CEO, Chairman and Trustees, playing a vital role in securing the funding for clearly defined projects with compelling benefits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver the day-to-day management of a benefactors’ programme in line with the strategy and EHAAT’s long term aims.
  • Ensure benefactor support is strengthened through in-depth research, compelling proposals, well-crafted approaches for gifts and excellent stewardship.
  • Act as a source of expertise in benefactor fundraising for the charity.
  • Establish, develop and manage a pipeline and caseload of mid and major donor supporter relationships.
  • Work with the CEO, Fundraising & Marketing Director and Chairman on developing strategy, processes, and cases for support.
  • Deliver regular activity and income reports, and participate in the budgeting and forecasting of income in this area.
  • Prepare finance and impact reports for donors, and ensure donations and grants are correctly allocated and used, and conditions met.
  • Ensure all necessary agreements are in place and due diligence is undertaken prior to accepting gifts.
  • Work across the charity, including with the Executive Team to collaboratively create exciting and impactful propositions for funding, impact reports and stewardship opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain a detailed knowledge of EHAAT’s current work and future strategic plans.
  • Identify potential relationships and cross-selling opportunities across the fundraising team, recognising where there is overlap with the benefactors’ programme.
